COMMISSION WORK

EXPRESSING YOUR IDEAS IN ART

Have a richly detailed, life-like portrait drawn of a pet or animal in scratch-board, graphite, oil or watercolor. Preserve the memories for a lifetime with an original portrait of our close family members, our pets. Art work is completed from your photograph(s). Most drawings take 6-8 weeks to be completed. Please plan in advance for busy times of year, such as Christmas! Drawings can be rush completed for additional cost (minimum of four weeks).

The clearer the photos the greater detail can be given to the drawing. For detailed work photo references must be very clear and sharp. It is helpful to have more than one photo  in addition to your primary photo.  Please note that the style of watercolor is more suggestive of the animals and not as detailed as other forms where individual hairs are focused on. All photographs will be returned with the finished piece.

Detailed art work is a very slow and time consuming medium.

Price given are for portraits or commissions with minimal background.   Works are priced without framing. Framing can be added for an additional charge. I will evaluate your photo and let you know the total cost before I begin working. Larger sizes, additional subjects and complex backgrounds are also available at an additional cost. Color scratch board takes longer than black and white, so the difference in price is a reflection of the additional work.

Twenty-five percent of the cost is non-refundable and due before the portrait is started, 25% is due after the approval of the preliminary sketch, and the final 50% is due after the work is completed. If desired, two additional progress photos can be sent as progress is made.

Changes can be made during after the initial line drawing is sent. If there is something that you do not like in the preliminary layout let me know before we start! I work closely based on your reference photos. If you live close to me and your pet is available I love taking my own reference photos and meeting your pet. No additional cost within 20 miles of me.

Allow at least 6-8 weeks from when I get your photos until you will receive your drawing. Rush drawings (less than 8 weeks for completion) can be completed for an additional cost (minimum of four weeks).

Please contact me for more information or to commission a drawing of your pet.

Drawings can be completed from large print photos or large digital files, or a combination of digital and actual photos. All photos and digital images must be clear, in focus and well lit (not flash) and a minimum of 1200 pixels in size (digital) or 5"x7" (or larger) prints. If you plan on using photos taken by a professional photographer as a primary reference a written and signed release from the photographer giving me permission to use the image(s) is required . If the photographs sent for your drawing are unsatisfactory then I will not be able to complete the drawing and your images and deposit will be returned.
